Alan Lemin

Alan Lemin is a Cornish-British artist of abstract and figurative expressionism born in 1956 who lives and works in Rame Peninsula in South East Cornwall, UK. Alan is also an arts educator and is principal of Rame Peninsula Art, Young Art School from where he teaches art to young aspiring artists from within his local community. In the 2015 Queens New Years honours list, Alan was awarded a British Empire Medal for services to further and higher arts education and the community of Cornwall. As a non-conformist republican, he was deeply humbled by those who nominated and supported his work and accepted this honour on their behalf. Alan has since returned the medal to King Charles 111. His art takes on two distinct modes ranging from pure abstract expressionism through to the exploration of figurative abstract art. He invites the viewer to think openly about his work and immerse themselves in the explosion of colour and the mystery which underpins his art. A chance to dream, imagine and explore the mind. Alan takes inspiration from the ever changing land and seascapes of the Cornish coastline from where he lives. His intense fascination for old Fresco paintings features within his figurative works as he endeavours to provide a modern twist on this most ancient of artistic forms. He uses a variety of mediums and application techniques, incorporating acrylics, oils, glazes and varnishes within his art. Alan’s art is sold and held in the hands of private collectors in the UK and Europe.
