Presentation
Lauren Ike is a Chicago-based fiber artist working in plaster, latex paint, embroidery and upholstery-based media.
The knot has become central to Ike's aesthetic vocabulary - linked to fetishism, connectivity, and familial ties while the act of tying knots is a method of coping with anxiety - reinforced through repetitive behavior.
Recent highlights include exhibitions at Chicago's A+D Gallery, C-33 Gallery, Hokin Gallery, Studio Oh!, Elephant Room Gallery, Beverly Arts Center, Zhou B Art Center, Rubberneck Gallery, Backspace Gallery, Ground Level Platform, the Terrain Biennial 2019 and the University Club of Chicago.
