Biography

Photographer, actor, Amadou Gaye was born in Saint-Louis, a city in northern Senegal before settling in the capital, Dakar. Arriving in Paris in 1976, he worked in the factory, living in African homes. Amadou Gaye takes photography courses in a professional school. He started at Viva, Depardon's agency. He photographs the mixed Paris of the 80s and the youth of the suburbs. He will publish in Paris March, Gai Pied, Sans Frontière.

He is the author of several works: Revue Noire (1997), Ethnicolor (1998), Paris la Garce (1999), Paris la Douce (2006).

Alongside his work as a photographer, he is also the interpreter of negritude champions such as Aimé Césaire or Léopold Sédar Senghor, former president of the Senegalese Republic, in his shows Négritudes and Paroles de Nègres.
