Philippe Guillemet was born on March 12, 1949 in Angers, in Maine - & - Loire.
Confronted at a very young age with the art of drawing, he was introduced to fresco painting and stained glass in slabs of glass before attending the School of Fine Arts, where he encountered sculpture and the technique of bronze.
From then on, he worked as a sculptor and, for more than forty years, taught plastic arts and the history of art at the Special School of Architecture, boulevard Raspail in Paris.
Passionate and curious artist, his areas of intervention are not limited to the search for pure form, but engage, in a concern of scale, a constant dialogue with architecture, the urban landscape, furniture, and more recently the violin ...
His multiple work, most often figurative, is expressed through aphorisms, whose conciseness and underlying irony invite the viewer to reflect. Beyond the galleries and salons that he regularly visits, public commissioning and various private and / or media initiatives have been the dominant part of his occupations. In this spirit, he was the author of the “Les Victoires de la Musique” trophy, from 1995 to 2015.
Favoring the bronze technique as a process of experimentation and implementation, the Art foundry has become a privileged workplace. As an extension, he published works devoted to Art and organized various exhibitions, both nationally and internationally.
