Born in 1957 in Cherbourg, he studied at the Beaux-Arts in Paris between 1975 and 1978.
Jean François Lefranc started with figurative painting, and continued with abstract painting and he had several national and international shows (New York, Montreal, Hamburg, Paris...), most of them in galleries.
In the last years, he started to take photos with his DSLR camera; at first, he wanted to produce a catalogue of his paintings. Willing to advance in his research about painting, he started to teach photography.
In the beginning he took pictures of old dusty objects, but he quickly switched to live models, especially to curvaceous women.
Today he dedicates most of his practice to photography, especially to feminine nudes.
