

Biography
Vicente Verdú, in addition to being a painter, was a writer and journalist. He earned a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of the Sorbonne and was a member of the Nieman Foundation at Harvard University. He regularly wrote for El País, a newspaper where he held the positions of Head of Opinion and Head of Culture. Among his more than thirty books are: Courtship and Marriage in the Spanish Bourgeoisie (Ed. Cuadernos para el Diálogo), Football: Myths, Rites and Symbols (Alianza), Success and Failure (Planeta), New Loves, New Families (Tusquets), China Superstar (Aguilar), Emotions (Taurus) and Ladies and Gentlemen (Premio Espasa de Ensayo in 1998) and The Bonfire of Capital (Premio 'Temas de Hoy' 2012). His latest book published by Península is Apocalypse Now: An Updated Reading of the Apocalypse of Saint John.
