Explosions de couleurs
Les artistes ont inventé les premiers pigments il y a plus de 40 000 ans, en utilisant des matériaux naturels comme la terre, la craie ou encore la graisse animale. À l'époque, la palette de couleurs dont disposaient les artistes se limitait aux tons minéraux (rouge, noir, blanc, ocre…). Depuis cette époque, les progrès artistiques et scientifiques ont permis d'élargir considérablement les palettes de couleurs.
Dans la création contemporaine, les artistes tirent parti de tous les tons qui peuvent être conçus. Certains vont même parfois jusqu'à s'en approprier de nouveaux : pensez au bleu d'Yves Klein et au Vantablack d'Anish Kapoor… De nombreux artistes abstraits ont fait de la couleur l'axe principal de leur travail, comme le mouvement Orphisme de Sonia et Robert Delaunay.
Aujourd'hui, de nombreux artistes perpétuent cette vision de placer les couleurs vives et éclatantes au centre de leur travail.
