For the start of the 2024 school year, the Réservoir Sète will be offering a new exhibition proudly called (De)construction.
It will showcase 7 talented artists with deeply committed styles and techniques. In the hands of the protagonists who will have shaped it, this theme, as powerful as it may be, will prove to be fragile and even aerial.
Building to deconstruct, then rebuilding, making and unmaking, breaking, gluing back together, grinding, welding… the order of the words could almost be reversed. An infinite back and forth, a paradoxical journey, the genesis of all production and essential to the creation carried out by the artists Julien Barriol aka No Luck, Mathieu Bureau, Thomas Canto, Jean Denant, Jules Hidrot, Elena Salah and Olivier Secretan. For the duration of an exhibition, they will become the architects of raw imaginations, and beneath the limestone, the entire material will be revealed.
There are those who move the dust, and with it, the memories, those who cut the sleepers, those who sculpt the past and those who paint the present to return, always, to timelessness. As if freezing the infinite process was their destiny.
This virtuous circle, composes us and recomposes us, destroys us but maintains us, even though we are its artisans. And like our lives, creation travels these paths, strewn with stops and obstacles, to be accomplished here, then there, over there, too.
Thus, art and life; true similarities, will be the pillars of this exhibition whose theme, before being dear to stone, is dear to humanity.
