Evelyn Robertson Nangala is an young aboriginal painter from Yuendumu. The Yuendumu community was founded in 1946 and in 1980 it counted about 1000 Warlipiris.
It is situated 100km north of Papunya, the place where contemporary aboriginal painting was born in the 1970s. At the time the artists would paint in acrylic on canvas or in waterolor but they wouldn't share the secrets of Dreamtime that they evoked in their works. It is only in the 1980s that thei accepted to reveal their vision on these origin myths.
