Biography
Marina Mankarios is a Franco-Egyptian sculptor, based in Paris. A graduate of Ensaama, she began her artistic career with object design, to quickly turn to crafts. She makes statuary molding her favored technique, and uses the mold as a tool for free creation, playing with the definitions of the term “reproduction".
Her experiments guide her towards a set of sculptures that tease the canons of Greco-Roman sculpture, through games of deformations and fragmentations. Passionate about 20th century theater and literature, she maintains an artistic approach based on the rewriting of classic and iconic forms.
