Biography
Born in Narbonne in 1958, Serge Griggio saw his artistic vocation reveal itself very early on as obvious.
His natural curiosity and his desire to progress lead him to meet other painters and to confront his painting with their gaze: Jessup, Mazzino, Claude Parent-Saura. He learns from their criticisms and their advice, between ardor and determination. He constantly quenches his thirst for knowledge in books, and reading nourishes his painting and his spirit. His meetings with Italian painters, Calvetti, Biancalani, De Gregorio, Dusi will also be very stimulating. He joins forces with the writer Jean-Claude Pirotte for an exhibition project Writing and painting.
His numerous travels, and particularly in Italy where he rediscovered his Venetian origins, led him to discover the greatest in the history of art: Giotto, Caravaggio, Della Francesca, Tintoretto.
Griggio's artistic production follows his intellectual journey, the path he opens up in the world. It testifies to a constantly moving spirit. And each step of this path is a kind of temporary culmination before embarking on another quest. These strata of life materialize in what he shows of his work through exhibitions dedicated to him.
