Biography

John Buscema was a comic book artist born on December 11, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York (USA), and died of cancer on January 10, 2002, in Port Jefferson, New York.

Discovered by Stan Lee, John Buscema became one of Marvel Comics' leading artists in the 1970s. His energetic style, similar to that of Burne Hogarth, according to Jean-Pierre Andrevon, ensured the success of many series, including The Avengers, Silver Surfer, and Wolverine. However, finding little enjoyment in drawing superheroes, John Buscema expressed himself best when bringing heroic fantasy characters to life. His work on the Conan the Barbarian series, which he illustrated for nearly fifteen years, remains one of his greatest achievements.

His brother, Sal Buscema, is also a comic book artist.
