Although the artist's photographs appear to be the work of artificial intelligence, they are only the showcase of his creations.
Biography
Originally from Belgium, Christelle Lays is an avant-garde artist whose creations combine her three great passions: art, makeup and photography. She brilliantly combines these three modes of expression to create unique and vibrantly realistic works. Creations with powerful messages that fully reflect her personality and her vision of the world.
Born in 1986 in the city of Namur, the young woman began her career in 2011 as a professional makeup artist in Belgium, then in France and Monaco, before evolving towards an increasingly artistic approach.
Initially purely aesthetic, over the years and her inspirations, makeup has become the starting point for unique and original works of art, such as a helmet encrusted with hundreds of rhinestones, all glued by hand. This first creation was a real trigger and that day, Christelle understood that her future was going to be played out in art, and that the artistic world would become her playground, as well as the space in which she could fully express all her creativity.
From makeup artist to visual artist, Christelle Lays finally became a conceptual photographer, this is how she now expresses herself. If her photos seem to be the creation of an artificial intelligence, they are however only the highlighting of her creations. For each of her series, the young woman makes up and transforms her model who thus becomes a work of art in its own right.
With a strong and assertive personality, a constant attention to detail and a fierce desire to promote aesthetics, Christelle is a multifaceted artist. While the visual photographer appreciates the work of several big names such as Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Jeremy Scott, her inspirations rather come from her life, her career in fashion and the magical worlds of childhood. Christelle is very passionate about contemporary art, fashion and design. The messages she communicates through her different series reflect her concerns and the values that are dear to her, such as self-love, the duality of personalities or femininity.
Her ephemeral and refined works, seen through Christelle's lens, are frozen in time. Combining luxury and a love of aesthetics, each of her creations is rich in meaning, establishing a meaningful connection between the artist and her audience, while brilliantly reflecting the concerns and dynamics of our times.
