After completing her first training at the School of Visual Communication in 2010, Violaine Carrère studied photography and image processing at Gobelins.
Attracted by still life, she decided to devote herself to a career as a studio photographer. Since then, she has continued to develop her atypical universe, which is characterized by a plastic vocabulary mixing the use of digital technology and strange materials: accustomed to playing with lights, gelatins and reflection effects, she manages to create the illusion of an unreal setting.
Always eager to renew her vocabulary and technique, Violaine turned to a new medium: stained glass. As enthusiastic about thumbing her nose at religious art as she is about perfecting an object she is learning to know, Violaine intentionally transgresses the codes of reading classical stained glass. Playing with humor on the commercial and derisory aspect of her subject, she enjoys subverting advertising codes.
Organic and artificial dimensions seem to mingle on an unknown support, his work floats like an unexpected encounter between two worlds. The forms intertwine and mingle with fragments of images directly taken from reality.
Her enthusiastic experimentation also seeks to take a step back to understand the generations of artisans who preceded her in a form of artistic ecology, which accepts to receive history and perpetuate its traditions.
Violaine Carrère was part of the group exhibition “Art is Hope" at the Galerie Perrotin, and more recently she is the new winner of the 2024 Young International Photography Meetings.
