Pier was born in Marseille in 1968.
Influenced by the landscapes that surround him, the artist captures the essence of dry stone walls and the soul of olive trees under the bright light of the Provençal sun.
In other reaches, further north, he captures the beauty of tall grass, rose bushes blooming on facades and hedges as far as the eye can see.
His sensitivity to materials instinctively leads him to sculpture. Plaster, wood, and recycled materials take the form of bas-reliefs, figures, and faces, continuing his pictorial work.
Pier explores the theme of "still life" through resolutely contemporary works on paper. Working in series, he seeks above all to reconcile freedom of line and the breathing of forms. The artist enjoys playing with sketches, second thoughts, and the unfinished.
Pier has been represented exclusively by Galerie Isabelle Laverny since 2019.
