Nathalie Gravey

"Born in 1968 in Talence near Bordeaux, Nathalie Gravey joined the ENSAAMA of Paris in Design with a specialization in ceramics. These studies enabled her to exercise the profession of Designer in the arts of the table and to design objects made in materials as diverse as glass, metal or plastic. Creator of collections for tableware, Nathalie Gravey also pursues research in plastic arts and more particularly in painting where there is an interaction between her profession and her passion since she was a child: drawing. At first tempted by painting in matter, she turned until 1995 towards an increasingly figurative painting close to hyperrealism. She exhibited regularly in restaurants, stores of objects for the home, and experimented with publishing posters with the Pragma Visuel. Nathalie Gravey has been drawing and painting since the age of six to share with others her feelings “(…) I cons create an image which I hope will cross the pupil of the one who is looking (…) in other words to share a vision. ". And her look at the objects around her is very personal, poetic. Her subjects are at first glance objects or everyday things, but looking at them more intensely, we are surprised to find them an appearance very different from what we knew about them: thus the vegetables that this artist paints have they have a flavor, an odor, a material that makes them come alive, do the flowers have a color and a delicacy that give us the illusion of inhaling the scent: “(…) I observe the colors of flowers often saturated like nasturtiums, geraniums. Shades barely believable in their intensity. "There is sometimes text on Nathalie Gravey's canvases, as if to disturb us in our perception of what is nevertheless represented very clearly:" (...) I ended up mixing the text with the painting (...) a certain form of humor or wink. The colors reinforce, at least I hope, this notion of conviviality.
