Biography
Jozef Bonnot has had a free artistic path. He studied architecture in Lille and made performances with his brother Kazik and his cousin and Brems. They were calle the BBK and would create performances at a time they were not really in fashion in France yet.
Jozef Bonnot contiues working independently as a ceramic artist and painter. His insolent and raw art makes him an unconventional artist, with a polymorphous body of work. He has created his own painting technique, fabricating his own pigments (linen oil, natural pigments) and his own supports, from canvas treated with casein from cow milk from his neighbor's cows. He mounts the canvas on plywood, from which he also builds his frames.
He creates portraits and landscapes, almost obsesivelly and everything inspires him: silhouettes, heads, skulls, objects, animals, landscapes, vegetal elements; Jozef Bonnot creates powerful and dynamic paintings that resonate and impose their presence.
