Biography
Claude BERTRAND born in 1949 in Champagne, he discovered sculpture in 1972. He left us on June 3, 2023, on the road to come and see us.
Until 1991, he produced works close to Romanesque art. It was in 1988 that he discovered marble, particularly Belgian black, his favorite stone.
He explores and develops a new research of lines, shapes…. Today his work is characterized by roundness and femininity.
Some rough surfaces are for him a living beauty that he wants to preserve and use in contrast with the highly polished parts. They symbolize movement and emotion.
Recently he has added black marble to his first love, schist. A more flexible stone that easily withstands the outdoors. In one, two or three, a real way to enhance a garden or swimming pool.
