Michel Monteaux is assistant director for the cinema in France, before settling in the 80s in Los Angeles where he establishes himself as a professional photographer. He works in the field of editorial and advertising illustration. Passionate about the high desert, he opened a studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He devotes himself to portraiture and reportage with a particular interest in the folk art of the American continent. He returned to France in the mid-90s, where he continued his photographic activity for the press and companies.
At the same time, he pursues personal work that questions, through photography and drawing, our place in the environment and our relationship to the excessiveness of our operating systems.
"... a man agitated by the incessant questioning of his place among others, of the place of others in him. Of this long quest which resembles a bottomless well, Michel Monteaux will never tire. It is his engine and his soul. . "Fabrice Gaignault in introduction to the Gandhi Express exhibition.
“The power of his landscapes, whose compositions are reminiscent of some of the greatest American painters, reflects the spiritual dimension he puts at the service of his art." Dan Torres.
