Biography
Whether in painting, sculpture or video, he always maintains a strong link to autobiography and his pieces come mostly from his history or the films that have marked him. That he was born in Eritrea in 1988 has not been without influence on his work to the point that he himself willingly underlines, when asked about his production, that he often works around and on issues of double culture, double belonging, identity... In his case, it's not a complaint. More like a statement of facts. To do this, the artist's works reveal the traces and imprints that can be left on the material as if to better capture reality. They often radiate an attractive violence and allow a free interpretation on the part of the spectator. By deliberately choosing to place identity at the centre of his work as much as his deep desire to fix the intangible, but also the ephemeral and the fleeting, he proposes to stop for at least a moment what is disappearing, what will be lost and perish. In juggling with the realm of memory and the realm of experience, it seems that we must constantly strive to understand who we are.
