

Biography
Jean Bazaine studied in several Parisian academies and institutions: Académie Julian, Paul Landowski and the Sorbonne, where he attended Henri Focillon's lesson, a famous history of art specialist.
At the age of 20, Jean opted for painting, he imitated great paintings from Musée du Louvre and showed a lot of interest in theater. During the International exhibition of Paris in 1937, he designed a fresco with his friend Jean Le Moal, he also did stained glass, first of a long series and re-did the decor, costumes for theater plays staged by Maurice Jacquemont.
Jean Bazaine's works are presented in several exhibitions in Europe since 1946 in Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Stockholm. Jean Bazaine is considered as one of the main representatives of the non-figuration movement.
1958 onwards, Jean Bazaine enjoyed several great retrospectives in many European countries, the most famous being in 1965 at the National Modern Art museum in Paris.
