Biography
Dran, born in 1980 in Toulouse, is a French street artist renowned for his satirical and poetic works that explore the failings of contemporary society. After training at the Beaux-Arts, he moved away from academicism to immerse himself in the street art movement, notably as part of the DMV team.
His unique style blends gentleness and provocation, violence and humor, through characters confronting the harshness and absurdity of the world around them. Recurring themes such as the environment, consumerism, politics, and religion are dissected in his creations.
Dran uses a variety of techniques and media, including illustrations, drawings , stencils, lithographs, paintings, prints , and photographs. His works are famous for being used on commercially available cardboard.
In 2023, Dran achieved notable success with the auction of his work "Stradivarus" (2017), a 100 x 81.5 cm oil on canvas, which sold for €106,600, surpassing its initial estimate of €60,000 to €80,000. This sale highlighted Dran's rise in the urban art market, cementing his position as one of the most influential contemporary artists.
In 2024, Dran participated in several international exhibitions, strengthening his presence on the global art scene. His works continue to captivate a diverse audience, combining social criticism and aesthetics, and are sought after by collectors and institutions. In 2025, he participated in the 9th edition of the Street For Kids charity event, exhibiting his creations at the Hôtel Mona Bismarck in Paris on March 24.
Dran remains a key figure in street art, whose creations transcend the walls of the street to reach a global audience.
