Born in 1989 in Paris. Lives and works in Marseille.
“My work is built on the desire to go beyond the faithful representation of space to bring the witness into a fantasized place. Losing the notion of reality in order to seek the essence of the subject ".
Succession of plans, entanglement of lines and shapes, play of deviation and contortion of perspective, Robin Obitz's canvases seek the horizon and are like windows, breakthroughs into the reality of our standardized environments. The artist opens up spaces, paths to take, worlds to inhabit but also where to get lost - the painter willingly playing on the edge of abstraction.
A form of cubist lyricism, Robin Obitz's painting is born from the meeting between the rigor of the composition, the structured line inspired by architectural drawing, and an exaltation, a fiery color that pushes to the limit of saturation.
In these reconstitutions of ever more unstructured landscapes, the natural space is gaining ground. It thus becomes an artificial paradise, "nature fiction", and is part of an almost digital imagination.
