Roland Oudot

France • 1897 - 1981

He is one of those who do not want to give up on pleasing, this gift scorned by the 20th century, by the subject and appearances, as in the past, but also by the liberation of colors.

Biography

Roland Oudot was a French painter, lithographer, and theater set designer. He is best known for his association with the Realité Poétique movement, which emphasized a lyrical and decorative approach to realism, often portraying landscapes, still lifes, and figures with soft, harmonious colors and graceful compositions.

Oudot studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs and became part of a circle of artists who sought to combine traditional techniques with a modern sensibility. His works are often noted for their elegance and serenity, capturing the beauty of everyday life in a poetic, yet accessible style. Besides painting, Oudot contributed to the world of theater, designing sets and costumes for stage productions, which added another layer of versatility to his career.
