Jame's PRUNIER was born in Oran, Algeria in 1959.
Painter, stamp designer, literary and scientific illustrator, he received artistic training at the École de l'image d'Épinal and the École Nationale Supérieure d'Art in Nancy.
Attracted by industry, machines and means of transport, he worked on the history of railways and especially aviation. This specific commitment to the air industry was materialized by obtaining the title of “Official Air Painter" in 1992. He also produced stamps for La Poste.
In painting, natural and urban landscapes constitute the essence of his work. With his feet on the ground, he shows us through his paintings, where the sky sets the tone, the perspectives and the urban forms of his city according to chosen points of view. Its particularly sensitive restitution of light makes them timeless interpretations, of the Place Stanislas or other places in Nancy. Elevated above the earth, his points of view lead us towards a construction-deconstruction of landscape images according to a totally vertical geometric rhythm, without perspective, like an analysis of the strata and elements of our society. He calls them “Vertical Land Art". These paintings represent the current trend of his artistic research. Awarded several prizes, the Prix Galilée of the Stanislas Academy in 2004 recognized all of his work.
