Biography
Salome Botchorishvili (born in2000)i is a visual artist based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Her diverse body of work spans multiple media, reflecting different stages of her life and perceptions of self. Salome's paintings combine a sense of deep sincerity, childlike innocence, and honesty, portraying everyday stories that feel familiar and intimate. These works serve as a visual reflection of scenes we often encounter — people, objects, and spaces — but viewed from unique perspectives.
Salome's experimental approach, along with her constant shifts in materials and techniques, makes her artistic process unpredictable for viewers. Yet, despite her continual exploration, her work maintains a cohesive thread. Her abstract spaces and blurred silhouettes invite the viewer to interpret and label the emotions they evoke, whether those emotions stem from personal experiences, fears, or deeper introspection. Her art compels you to linger or move on, as if part of a journey where even small changes can accelerate or decelerate the pace.
Salome works with materials such as gouache, tempera, acrylic, oil, and gypsum. The use of multiple layers is central to her compositions, with water-based materials like gouache and tempera lending a fragile, soft, and cozy quality to the pieces. The dryness in her paintings mirrors the purity of emotion, simplifying the visual experience. When using contrasting materials like oil, she still strives to maintain this delicate effect.
