Biography
Originally from Germany and after spending years in Madrid and Paris, I have been living in Lyon since 2006. Along with my career as an architect, art has always been an integral part of my life. Influenced by bright spaces, simple and refined shapes, I work on my paintings, attracted by everything that is sober, subtle and pure - that which has finesse.
For me, artistic work represents a way of concentration - a concentration on the essential - a kind of purification of the mind. I purge, I clean and I simplify my images to leave only the quintessence, their dominant character. I reduce the colors, the structures step by step to obtain a result cleaned of all that is superfluous.
It is a process in three, sometimes four stages: The photography which is the basis, the assembly in diptych or triptych, a work of refinement and accentuation and to finish the drawing and sometimes the painting, interacting subtly with the light.
