Biography
Samiran Boruah is an Indian painter born in 1953. Now based in Paris, he lives between India and France.
His figurative paintings underline his deep concern for color from which he likes to bring out contrasts, shapes, lines and strokes. His works bring out a double inspiration between the colors of his first native country and the scenes of life in European landscapes.
A museum curator for twenty years and a fine connoisseur of Indian miniature paintings and the primitive arts of North-East India, he is also the author of several books and numerous articles on art and society.
His first individual exhibition dates back to 1979. He has since been represented by several Indian galleries, has participated in numerous exhibitions around the world and several art festivals and artist residencies in France. Many of his paintings are part of private collections in different countries.
