Biography
Kun was born in 1974. A painter originally from Israel, he grew up with artist parents. Sensitized to art at an early age and eager to pursue a career in it, Kun attended the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem until 1998. He then earned his master's degree from Goldsmiths College in London in 2000. He now lives and works passionately about his passion from New York.
Kun's pictorial style is easily identifiable due to the breathtaking realism that characterizes his paintings. His meticulous organization and the rigor of his work allow him to achieve reproductions of landscapes with unparalleled precision. Attached to the current of hyperrealism, this artist draws inspiration from photographic shots that he depicts in oil or acrylic on large-format canvases.
From landscapes to close-ups of branches and windows covered in raindrops, Kun's paintings encourage the viewer to question themselves. They are invited to squint, to detect the tiniest details. But even more so, to question their relationship to images and reality. Moreover, none of Kun's landscapes are real. On the contrary, all are characterized by their artificiality. Their goal is not to imitate our world but rather to comment on it. In his paintings, humans are thus treated as intruders, because they are a source of damage to nature.
