Ruby Bat Arnon was born in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Ruby Bat Arnon's pictorial work raises questions about the status of modern women in the 21st century.
Thus, questions of gender, identity and other social issues are interwoven which serve as a platform to highlight the reflection linked to the representation of women. The works range from surrealist to grotesque even fanciful and reveal the complexity of female representation.
In essence imperfect, the way of treating the subject is hybrid with the representation of a female character often dressed in a traditional Dutch costume of the 17th century alongside inanimate objects and living creatures; the whole being incorporated into landscapes.
Growing up in the Netherlands, Ruby Bat Arnon was influenced by the masterpieces of Rembrandt, Caravaggio and Jan Van Eyck. The artist creates in his works a new surprising and unexpected reality. She is aware of the passing of time and illustrates it with a skull whose purpose is to remind her contemporaries that they are mortal.
This symbol appears in many works of art, especially during the Renaissance. In his paintings, there is a certain symbolism: nudity is more synonymous with fragility than sexuality. The necklace symbolizes the burden carried by the female shoulders.
The mask illustrates the concealment: the women wear the mask of the modern superhero with on the one hand, the careerist and on the other hand the housewife. These symbolic works are enveloped in mystery and holiness which make them unique and magical.
