Giulia Wyss

Switzerland • 1992

Capturing the soul of a moment and the essence of human connection.

Biography

Born in Switzerland in 1992, Giulia Wyss began creating art at the age of 15 and started selling her work professionally by 23. Since 2020, she has been working as a full-time independent artist. Her interest in realist-figurative art was sparked in 2008 when she attended art school in St. Gallen, where she built a strong foundation in both technique and creative expression.

Wyss's early work stood out for its unique mix of striking eyes, detailed portraits, and bold graphic forms. Over time, her art has evolved through intense self-directed study, experimentation, and a commitment to creating meaningful works that bridge the emotional and the tangible.

“There's a transformative moment in the process when the paint becomes more than just paint," Wyss explains. “It shifts from being a physical material on the canvas to taking on a life of its own. The challenge lies in capturing that feeling—communicating the experience of being in the presence of the subject through a realistic art form that evokes the natural impression of someone truly being there."

Her work is about capturing the soul of a moment and the essence of human connection. Through a careful balance of realism and emotional depth, Wyss seeks to go beyond representation to create paintings that feel alive, works that invite viewers into an intimate, reflective space where they can connect with the subject, themselves, and the larger themes of existence. Her art not only captures what is seen but evokes what is felt, offering a window into truths that resonate universally.
