Biography
I paint in acrylic, sometimes with the addition of collage. Bold vibrant color, strong composition and a painterly approach are characteristic in my work. Subject matter may include figures, interiors, still life or landscape.
My style could be described as representational abstract, although at times I make a complete break into the purely abstract. Realism is neither desired nor preferred, but only suggested to varying degrees.
Exhibitions:
I participate in juried shows on a regular basis at The Art League in Alexandria, VA and I exhibit continually as a member of Touchstone Gallery, Washington DC. I had a solo show at Gallery West, Alexandria, VA in June 2010. I was part of a 2 person show there in June 2009.
Artistic Influences:
I am influenced by Henri Matisse and contemporary California artists such as Richard Diebenkorn, Joan Brown and Elmer Bischoff.
