Biography
Russell Powell is an American artist born in 1981.
A kindergarden teacher, Russell Powell has developed a particular technique to make his very realistic paintings. Indeed, he uses his body as part of his creative process by painting with oil paint directly in his hands, which he then uses as a stamp.
Rusell Powell calls this technique the "hand-stamping". The lines of his hand are left exposed and become part of his compositions. His subjects come out of his own imagination, emblematic figures (Dalai Lama) or from the popular culture (Jack Sparrow).
