Nude Drawing for Sale

The nude is an artistic tradition where the human body is represented unclothed.

In some of the earliest instances of the nude in art, it was only gods, supernatural beings and spirits in human form who would be represented nude. In most cases, the term means 'derobed', and therefore the figures are not considered wholly 'naked'. Both experts and amateurs of this artistic technique insist on the distinction applied by Lucian Freud between 'nude' and 'naked'.

Throughout the history of art, the nude has occupied a paradoxical place in our society. Whether scandalous with Edouard Manet, revolutionary with Eugène Delacroix, daring with Gustave Courbet, occasionally admired with Egon Schiele, pornographic with Tom Wesselmann, cut with Matisse or cubic with Marcel Duchamp, it is undeniable that the nude has inspired, and continues to inspire, many artists.
