Meeting with the artist on Saturday, September 25, afternoon
Joël BARBIERO was born in 1948, from the meeting of a Venetian father and a Parisian mother living in France, in Auvergne. He lives and works near Clermont-Ferrand. Canvas, paper, cardboard remain the painter's favorite media, as well as magmatic rocks for monumental works (assemblies, panoramic orientation tables). After different periods: rocky landscapes, mass falls (caduta massi), BARBIERO's work evolved towards a transposition of nature. Uncluttered landscape, earth, plant, mineral, BARBIERO's work always favors matter, chromatic continuity and play of shadow and light. In addition to his work as a plastic artist, BARBIERO created and animated from 1989 to 2006 the lava enamelling workshop at the departmental architecture school of Volvic.
