Presentation

Vistaria Nakamarra Ross was born in 1993 in the community of Yuendumu about 300 km from Alice Springs in Central Australia. She is a third generation artist, her father Victor Japurrurla Ross and mother Dadu Nungarrayi Gorey both worked at Warlukurlangu Art Center as well as her grandmother Maggie Napaljarri Ross.

Vistaria therefore grew up, surrounded by artists, and spent her school holidays painting with her family at Warlukurlangu Artists in Yuendumu. Vistaria has been painting regularly for Warlukurlangu Artists since 2013. She inherited Dream of the Honey Ant (Yurrampi Jukurrpa/Honey Ant Dreaming) from her father and from her mother's side, Dream of Seeds (Ngurla Jukurrpa/Native Seed Dreaming). His parents also share Dreams of the Bush Onion and the Snake (Janmarda/Bush Onion and Warna/Snake).

These dreams are directly related to the earth and the plants as well as the animals that inhabit it. Vistaria uses a very varied and luminous color palette, thus offering a modern interpretation of the Dreams it inherited.
