Presentation

Maurice de Bevere, known as Morris, is a Belgian artist born in 1923 and died in 2001, in Brussels.

After working for some years in a cartoon studio in Belgium, Morris created in 1946 the famous character called Lucky Luke. Later on, he decided to settled in the United States while still writing and drawing for his series until 1955 when he entrusted the task to his friend Rene Goscinny.

Morris whole universe revolved around his character Lucky Luke, which is very rare for a cartoonist. He was the first person to use the expression "Ninth art" to refer to the comic strip in 1965.

After more than 70 albums, of which 35 were done with Rene Goscinny, Morris's work has traveled all around the world in different expositions, the last one is taking place from January to September 2016 and is being held at the Comic Strip Museum in Angouleme.
