Presentation
Jerzy Werbel attended the University of Education and Art in Poland, where he began his career as a painter. After several years of work in Poland, he decided to settle in Canada via Germany.
After a very difficult move, he established a studio in the southwestern Ontario region. Over time, he developed a remarkable perspective of his new homeland. For the next 20 years, Jerzy traveled across Canada and discovered the lush visual landscapes of Freedom. Currently, Jerzy continues his travels in this territory which he now calls his own.
ARTIST'S DECLARATION
“At first glance, our land is a seemingly peaceful utopia. His violent, ever-changing nature is so subtle to the eye and he is often overlooked. Our land is a cemetery, a place of birth, a land of continuous installation. I admire the static illusion that our landscape represents so, I obsessively continue to document its latest episode. "
