Biography
Jaime Colson (1901–1975) was a Dominican painter, playwright, and poet, influential in modernist art movements such as Cubism, Surrealism, and Neohumanism. He studied in Spain and France, befriending artists like Picasso and Dalí. Colson's work, often exploring Caribbean Cubism, became renowned for its unique fusion of styles. He taught in Cuba and Mexico before returning to the Dominican Republic, where he was appointed director of the School of Fine Arts. Colson passed away from throat cancer, leaving behind a significant legacy in Dominican art.
