Leikun Nahusenay Fentahun was born in 1982 and currently lives in Addis Ababa. He graduated in fine arts from Ale (2006) and Teferi Mekonnen (2011). Visual artist, he uses a mixed media approach which consists of mixing acrylics and elements of collage on paper or cardboard. He also makes collages from fabrics and tapestries.
Nahusenay explores different themes in her series, the titles of which include "body versus soul" and "prayer." Often involving several layers of contrasting geometric patterns, Nahusenay's colorful works give the illusion of reaching a three-dimensional space. The artist uses white lines and in particular the checkerboard pattern.
His work has been exhibited at Addis Fine Art (2016), Asni Gallery (2015), Alliance Ethio-Française (2011), National Museum of Ethiopia and Goethe Institute (2012), Somerset House in London (2009) and at the Lela Gallery (2008).
