Catherine Clare & Michèle Péré

Catherine Clare's paintings in collaboration with Michèle Péré's embroideries are the expression of a new artistic vision. Michèle Péré appropriates Catherine Clare's painting, reworks it with thread and needle to create an intimate link with the subject and open a dialogue between painting and embroidery. Their favorite ethnic themes are picked here and there from cultures around the world. African wax, tribal, bohemian, Indian, exotic, it is the marriage between the different aesthetics that make their creations so unique.

The embroidered works of Michèle Péré associated with the paintings of Catherine Clare have earned them numerous exhibitions in France, notably in Paris, London, Brussels, Geneva and San Francisco where they go every year.

From an early age, Michèle Péré was fascinated by embroidery, which she learned from her Vietnamese mother. During her travels in Asia, she discovered the techniques of weaving and the subtleties of embroidery. She perfected her skills and obtained her diploma in art embroidery in 2000 and her BMA (crafts certificate) in 2003.

Her passion for embroidery naturally led her to practice her profession in Parisian haute couture workshops such as Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier for many years.

Michèle Péré regularly visits contemporary art exhibitions with her painter friend Catherine Clare, with whom pictorial creation becomes inseparable from art embroidery.
