Presentation

Claude Combas, known as Clôdius, the 3rd brother, the iron mask, the one that the illustrious Robert and the creative Marc (Topolino) had hidden from the art world until the year 2021.

Claude Combas, the eccentric, the unstable, the inventive, the extroverted, the jack-of-all-trades, the passionate, the tireless, the talkative, the warm, qualifiers and superlatives abound to describe this colorful man often with a complex personality, sometimes controversial, always brilliant.

He was in turn animator, educator, entrepreneur, creator of events, here he is today becoming an ambitious artist.

In his artistic expression he has also been able to evolve, from his first exhibition of art brut entitled "The warriors" to the one presented today of naive art, the man has asserted himself and what could have initially passed for an umpteenth madness of the character now leaves us to think that the company can succeed.

This naive art characterizes him better, with his multiple paintings on acrylic canvas in bright colors, in a figurative pictorial style that respects neither the rules of perspective on dimensions, nor the intensity of the color, nor the precision of the drawing. .

This child's universe in which he has always evolved professionally can be found today through his painting.

This popular art corresponds in all respects to the very "popular" - in the noble sense of the term.

- Claude Combas.

This naive art is no longer considered a minor art today, just as Clodius will no longer be considered a minor artist, he the almost self-taught who finds himself, as in life, out of step with the artistic currents of his time. .

Naive art, or undisciplined art, becomes the trademark of the 3rd Combas, the only

Claude Combas.

This exhibition gives pride of place to Sète, the singular island so dear to the heart of Clodius, by celebrating the huge feast of Saint Louis, its jousters, its square balls, its bars on the quay, its fireworks, but also all the symbols that make the wealth of the city, the octopuses, the gabians, the seahorses, the lighthouse, the semaphore, the decanal...

Clodius pays homage through this exhibition which provokes astonishment, which smells of innocence, which invites a change of scenery and which arouses the imagination, to naive art and its majestic city of Sète.
