Presentation

Born in 1989, Julie Sarloutte is a young French artist who graduated in 2014 from DNSAP des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Painter with the needle, she uses skeins of cotton which she works according to the technique of embroidery known as "with the pulled thread" which replaced the tubes of paints and the colors which stain. It is by diverting traditional embroidery with old-fashioned connotations that the young artist reclaims the world around her.

His needlepoint paintings are regularly presented in France and internationally.

Julie grew up in the 93 where popular culture is omnipresent and where Art remains an inaccessible ideal, often considered as elitist. She does not define herself as a committed artist, but rather claims the position of witness of her time.

She watches television, browses the internet. Both worried and fascinated by the visual abundance that she swallows emanating from screens, cinema and the media, Julie extracts from these images, which pass in a fraction of a second, fragments, still images, which she selects. for their strangeness or their ambiguity. She chooses to transform these stills fragmenting a narration into iconic images. The fraction of a second chosen is transformed under his fingers into slow and meticulous "embroidery".

Julie stings and pierces her canvas, her fingers (sometimes) and the faces of the characters she represents, without great complacency vis-à-vis her models. Witness, for sure, but without inertia.
