Presentation

A sculptor, Maxime Plancque was born in 1958 in Rouen. He now lives in Manche where he has his own forge.

He trained as a copper-smith, it was only at the age of 40 that Maxime Plancque decided to study again and begin ironwork at Ecole de Strasbourg. He then taught this subject at Le Havre and the Parisian region. Previously, his expertise allowed him to rub shoulders with the world of art, while restoring paintings, gilding on wood or furniture.

He gradually devoted himself to sculpture. Maxime Plancque is able to make the material dance and fold iron. He's able to tame his elements and this results in mundane scenes through fire, air and water.

Couples or a group, he is able to tame his characters all along. Despite appearances, the latter are mobile on their base and therefore free to express themselves. This way, they can change places and appearances. There is an opposition between immobility and movement, between the raw material and smooth lines. With simple means and great expertise, he is able to transform the material into emotions and vice versa.

Maxime Plancque has been exhibiting since 2000 in Paris, Belgium, Luxembourg and Holland. He was rewarded twice in 2005 by European award. Since 2013, his slender beings are higher and much bigger.
