Jean-Michel Faudemer

Born in 1954, in a village in Normandy, in a family of blacksmiths, Jean-Michel Faudemer began traveling around the world at the age of 23. At 40, "three pieces of rusty iron left out on the sand, with unusual shapes, unveiled a hidden talent inside me" said the artist.

His work wavers between figuration and abstraction, between construction and intuition. He uses the same process that his blacksmith forefathers applied, all the while heading towards new techniques and used materials . Faudemer recycles iron, plastic, wood, rubber...in the same environment, nature or the city. He works with series, just like when he finds plastic on the beach, pertaining to different elements: water, air, fire and earth. His paintings are an invitation to travel. Infinite azure opens up to the outrageous, whereas a minuscule boat refers to our finiteness compared to a void. These gathered motley elements shape up a poetic and unusual composition.
