Gwenaëlle Soulier

Gwenaëlle was born and grew up at the very confluence of these two basins so favourable to art, the Oise and the Seine. From the age of 10, perhaps influenced by a father and grandfather who were amateur artists, she chose to express herself by drawing with a certain talent and gift, particularly for illustration, and has done so without interruption to this day.

She uses her life experience to entertain us with her humorous drawings that delightfully lighten our daily lives. She also makes use of her three years of experience in a renowned circus, where her skills were noticed and she was entrusted with the creation of stage sets.

But it is in 2018 that she will really become aware of her capacities by daring to launch herself into real pictorial works, by trying different techniques, in particular the brush and the knife, to materialize her reality and to give touch to the look which will allow her to open herself to this sometimes forgotten facet of our personalities, forgotten of our childhoods, the "letting go", this space of freedom in which everything comes to life and which allows a total expression without restraint that only the true artists, whatever their mode of expression, manage to reach.

Totally self-taught, Gwenaëlle knows how to use her senses intelligently to make the most of each moment of her life in order to progress and evolve both her subjects of work and her technique or the means of expression used

"In my painting, I like the immersion in the material, the colour, I also like that there are some figurative references, some tracks which arouse the imagination forming a global vision that each one will interpret according to its own history or its mood of the moment.

My artistic approach is like my life, it is an intuitive approach.

I try to follow the paths that my heart tells me. I refuse to lock myself into a style. For this reason, each time I enter my studio, I learn to trust my inspiration of the moment. This is not always easy because to paint or draw spontaneously, I have to let go and control my vertigo. I like to let my brushes and knives roam freely without knowing what they have in mind until a shape, a task or a line inspires them.

I value craftsmanship, but above all, I value dreaming.
