France • 2021
Presentation
Author photographer, freelance reporter and journalist, Jean-françois Mollière from Le Mans has collaborated on numerous books and magazines in the field of art, sport and architecture. Artistic director, he also designs photographic arrangements of public and private places. These commissioned works necessarily bear the imprint of his photographic research.
A search that takes the form of itineraries, a quest for protean images. Quest for an abyss, that of fiction in reality, of the reflection on the surface, of the image in the frame. Quest for the field of possibilities in this need in tension which precedes the photographic act. Quest for the other, in whom we recognize ourselves. Long sought after image, sifted through the sieve of anecdotal seduction, proven image. In 30 years of photographic research, Jean-François Mollière has never stopped breaking habits, going where the imagination becomes stronger. To break through the inevitability of finitude, to resist, inexorably. We recognize in his photography, images, icons very inspired by cinema and painting.
