Fabio Imperiale

Fabio Imperiale was born in Rome in 1981. At the age of three he opened the door of his house and behind him there was a gorilla. Artificial. This event makes it scary and insecure. From an early age shows a marked propensity for drawing. At the age of seven, he obtained the first commission, unpaid, when the teacher instructed him to draw the alphabet of the animals on the walls of the class.

The work is appreciated especially by classmates. Fabio, stimulated by the sudden success, begins to draw non-stop: on the notebooks, on the desks, on the walls of the house, even on expensive encyclopaedias. The parents, worried about the tapestry, try to dissuade him from undertaking a dangerous career as a painter. Fabio, fearful and insecure, lets himself be dissuaded. Nevertheless, over time there is no shortage of satisfactions: for example, during the years of high school, the caricature of his classmate becomes a true icon of the institute and boasts countless attempts at imitation. But it is not enough to awaken in him the dull pictorial instinct.

The years of graphic studies will also be in vain. It will be a disappointment of love, at the age of twenty-three, to restore vigor to his passion. So, to make up for lost time, Fabio throws himself headlong, self-taught, into the theoretical and practical study of painting. But as usual, it takes itself too seriously; in fact, first Picasso is believed, then Matisse and Modigliani. Since he realized he was nobody, his work has greatly improved. Still, this biography is his most conscious work.
