Sculpting wind, water and gravity, Susumu Shingu uses high technologies and the talents of his time to create installations in harmony with the secrets rhythms of the planet. He often collaborates with personalities such as Renzo Piano, Tadao Ando, Issey Miyake, Jii Kilián…
Entirely subjected to the forces of nature, his often-monumental sculptures have been installed around the world for the past 40 years. Wind Caravan, created in 2000, was a travelling installation with 21 sculptures presented in six of the most remote landscapes on Earth, famous for their extreme climate conditions and strong winds. Susumu Shingu's Magnum Opus, entitled Breathing Earth, is the creation of a utopic and auto-sufficient village that runs with the natural energies of wind, water and sunlight.
A first exhibition, “Sculptures du respir", was presented at the gallery in 2006, followed by “Planet of Wind and Water" in 2009 and “Beyond Time" in 2012. On June 21st, 2014, the “Susumu Shingu Wind Museum" was inaugurated in the Arimafuji Park of Sanda, near Osaka, Japan. Inaugurated by Tadao Ando, this open-air museum presents 12 moving sculptures by Susumu Shingu. At the same time, a restrospective of his work was organised in Kobé, and then travels in several Japanese museum in 2016.
