Presentation

Perla Krauze's work explores nature, the urban landscape, time, and memory. It includes painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, and photography, utilizing a variety of materials. In recent years, Krauze has focused increasingly on site-specific installations that maintain a dialogue with the site and space.

Through her work, Krauze attempts to make visible the marks, traces, or fissures of sidewalks and landscapes that she collects as she wanders through everyday surroundings. These traces of time and memory collected from her journey draw attention to the elements of often-overlooked sights, the topography, normally seen but not perceived.

Suspended Blues presents a central feature of suspended blue cast resin stones creating an atmospheric intervention in the space. Krauze describes her intent in installations to be that of a silent, contemplative atmosphere, a journey in itself.

Perla Krauze received a Master in Fine Arts degree in 1993 from Chelsea College of Art in London, following studies at Goldsmith's College of London University and at the National University (ENAP) in Mexico City. She has been exhibiting her work publicly since 1983 and has had solo exhibitions at Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, Mexico City and at Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Oaxaca.

In 2010, the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City organized Huellas y Recorridos, a retrospective about her work. Krauze was invited to the MacDowell Colony for a 7-week residency in 2012.
